Avalanche Danger Update

Dangerous avalanche conditions in Chugach State Park!  Over a foot of new snow in most areas, combined with moderate to strong winds forecast through Sunday, will increase avalanche danger.  Human triggered avalanches are likely, and natural avalanches are possible.  Be mindful of exposure to avalanche hazards from above (even if you’re on flat terrain); many popular Chugach State Park trails are exposed to potentially dangerous avalanche paths (e.g. Penguin Ridge, Falls Creek, Flattop, Powerline, O’Malley Gully, South Fork Eagle River, Twin Peaks).
