Public Observation: Front Range – Brewster Gully

Dug a quick snow pit at the base of Brewster Gully.
Shear quality: failed on an uneven plane
Compression: failed after hits articulated from the shoulder, failure plane was 6″- 1′ deep
No obvious signs of instability (shooting cracks, collapsing, whoomphing).

Supportable, relatively consistent wind slab snow until about halfway up where one finger hardness varied with patches of ice and pencil hard slab.

~1 in of fresh snow deposited while skinning.

Very little to no snow adjacent to gully.

Caution: moose carcass 1′ from trail.

Turns were nice considering this winter.
